Every once in a while, the fish looks almost as big as the young angler.
Today I had a family of four aboard ReelEzee — Mom, Dad and their two sons — for a day of fishing on Cape
Cod Bay.
It turned into a pretty good day for striped bass, including one beautiful fish that made for a great picture. But the fish weren’t the only ones interested in what was happening around the boat.
At one point we had a seal circling us, apparently hoping we’d throw something overboard for him. He hung around for a while checking us out and added a little entertainment to the day.
After the trip, the family sent me a message that pretty well summed it up:
“Joe thank you again for a great day with its own side adventures. Do you have a gmail account? I want to share all the photos of today.”
That’s fishing. You head out in the morning never knowing exactly what the day is going to bring.
After more than 50 years fishing these waters, that’s still one of the things I enjoy most. Every trip is a little different, and when you’ve got a family aboard, some good fishing and even a curious seal stopping by, you’ve usually got a story to take home with you.
